11. Teke Region Agriculture and Livestock Fair has opened its doors

11. Teke Region Agriculture, Livestock, Agricultural Technologies and Feed Fair has started to welcome its visitors with a grand opening ceremony. The fair, held between May 7-11 at the Uzay Çatı Public Market, brought together sector representatives, producers, and citizens. The organization can be visited every day until 19:00.

 

Many public institution representatives, civil society organization managers, and producers attended the opening program along with Burdur Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan, Burdur Members of Parliament Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz, İzzet Akbulut, and Mayor Ali Orkun Ercengiz. After a moment of silence and the National Anthem, protocol speeches were made.

 

Governor Bilgihan: “We must support fairs”

Burdur Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan stated in her speech that the agriculture and livestock fair is of great importance for the region, emphasizing that all institutions and organizations should support such events. Governor Bilgihan also drew attention to the Yörük Migration events to be held over the weekend, highlighting the importance of preserving cultural values.

 

Message of technology and sustainability from MAKÜ

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner provided information about the scientific studies and projects conducted by the university in the field of livestock in his comprehensive speech.

 

Öner stated that climate change, the decrease in water resources, and digital transformation directly affect the agricultural sector, saying that smart agriculture applications, sensor technologies, and data-driven production systems will be the production model of the future.

 

Öner also mentioned the water loss experienced in Lake Burdur, stating that the efficient use of water has now become a necessity. Prof. Dr. Öner, who stated that the university is working on sustainable production models, said, “Production supported by knowledge is the strongest guarantee of the future.”

 

Award for women farmers

Awards were given to women farmers who ranked in the competitions held within the fair by protocol members. After the opening ceremony, protocol members visited the booths of participating companies and chatted with producers and sector representatives.

 

Intense interest in the MAKÜ stand

The stand of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University at the fair received intense interest from visitors. Faculty members from the Veterinary Faculty provided one-on-one information to producers about animal health and nutrition.

 

The stand, which featured machines and equipment designed and produced by the university, also attracted significant interest for the “Village University” project. The project team answered citizens' questions. Additionally, natural products produced at the Milk Processing Center within MAKÜ Farm were presented to visitors.

 

Fermented sausage prepared by the Department of Food Hygiene and Technology of the Veterinary Faculty and the Migroalg supplement product produced by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences were among the notable products of the fair. Visitors had the opportunity to taste the products and also received information about the production processes.

 

The collaboration between academia, producers, and the sector presented at the Teke Region Fair was welcomed with satisfaction by the participants.
